Petition on National health and well-being policy/ Strategy for ethnic communities
New Zealand Parliament
26 January 2022
Over the past two years, there have been several statements released on ensuring Asians and other ethnic minority communities are explicitly included in health and wellbeing services delivered across New Zealand:
- Pae Ora: ensuring a healthy future for all – including Asian and Ethnic minorities
- Recommendations on the health system reform from the Asian Caucus of the PHA
- Statement on the health system reform for Asian and ethnic communities
The following petition builds on the previous work of the Public Health Association, academics and community organisations, and requests that “the House of Representatives urge Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand to develop a national, entity-level policy/strategy and regional/district implementation plans to improve the health and well-being of Asian and other ethnic minority population groups”.
By the petition process, we wish to raise awareness about Asian and ethnic health, and build momentum toward a change in policy and in how health and wellbeing services are delivered across New Zealand. Feel free to sign your name if you support this significant initiative.
Please also support us in promoting the petition within your networks.
